The 3 Cs of Coaching

The 3 Cs of Coaching

Coaching and Training for organisations is like what takes place at an individual level; it supports organisations to pause, introspect and reflect on what the organisation is now, what they aspire to become, and understand the obstacles and opportunities to reach their goal.  Non-profits are made up of people – this is what makes non-profits organic. The fact that the focus of non-profits is towards improving the lives of others makes it even more essential for non-profit actors to establish systems and structures of understanding whom they serve, how best they can serve them, and their contribution to enabling their constituents to become better citizens of the world. Our coaching and training processes at

Lusoma Advisory Services focus on the 3Cs:

Context: we support organisations in understanding the environment they operate. Together we seek to understand the drivers of change and how these factors impact positively or negatively on their work. But most critical is building the organisation’s awareness on influencing and driving the development agenda to harness their value and contribute to building a functional ecosystem—a reminder of why they exist.

Capabilities: We take a deep dive into organisations and have conversations (sometimes difficult ones!) about their mission, vision, and alignment with their functions. Introspection is a process that reveals the organisation’s strengths and areas for growth. But it also defines the organisation’s niche and position in its response to the context in which it works.

Commitments: Aware of the context in which the organisation operates and seeks to contribute to; and recognizing its capabilities, we journey with organisations in defining their approaches and change milestones that will not only support the organisation to ground its work but also establish its culture and practices that will define its growth curve in the years to come.

Coaching and training as non-profits enable us to empower the team, which in turn grows the organisation and ensures it commands its space and faces adversities with the confidence of influencing change – positive change for the constituents it serves.

Thus, our focus is on the 3Cs in coaching and training: Context, Capabilities, and Commitments.
